Some of the ISPs in India have already started blocking torrent websites (The PirateBay, Torrentz, etc.) as well as some legal video sharing websites (like Vimeo, DailyMotion). Nowadays, when someone tries to access these websites, he/she may receive a rather annoying message:

Currently, two of the Indian ISPs – namely Reliance and Airtel – have blocked specific websites. The reason for blocking is yet unclear but the citing of a Court order in the display message gives us a clue. The US Government has already blocked websites in the past on grounds of copyright infringement and it is certain that other countries have also started to follow suit. Torrents have regularly provided users access to copyrighted content worldwide; particularly new movie releases which could be downloaded through torrents.

First of all windows uses FAT32 and NTFS file systems. FAT stands for File Allocation Table. Actually it is a table of information about the hard disk blocks. But the size of any table in computers can not be unlimited. With FAT32 users can not store files larger than 2GB. This cannot change because that's the way the system was designed. You can read more about FAT from wikipedia here.
Now let's come to the point. Linux can read ntfs partitions but cannot write them. The solution is not that easy as Read and Write Linux Partitions From Windows.
First you will need to download the ntfs-3g from it's homepage here.
After downloading ntfs-3g you follow the well known procedure of configure , make , make install . If compile fails you probably don't have FUSE (Filesystem in USErspace) installed or you have an old version. FUSE can be downloaded for it's homepage here. You can follow the previous procedure to install it. If you are with Gentoo you can install ntfs3g and FUSE with these simple commands:

The two first commands write to the file specified and the third download and install ntfs3g and FUSE.

microsoft word 2003 does not print page border

As the title says today I had a problem with Microsoft word. The page border wasn't printed correctly. Here are the steps to correct it(At least worked for me)
Go to:
- File menu
- Page Setup...
- Select the tab Paper
- Down the Paper Size select Custom Size
- and set Width = 21cm and height = 29cm
- Down to Preview select Apply to Whole Document
and click ok

That worked for me, the page border was printed correctly. I hope this work for you too.

I have a laptop which sometime goes really hot and I wanted a simple way to be able to view CPU and Hard disk temperature. I' m on SUSE 10.3 and I tried installing LM-sensors but no sensors were detected. After a very little search I found that you can view the CPU speed by using the cpufrequtils so I installed the package using Yast and executed cpufreq-info.

Today I realized that it will be better to have line numbers shown with the parts of code I publish into this blog.
I tried with google but didn't find any "easy" way to do it.
So I figured out my way which I am going to describe here!
First of all I wanted to show line numbers for the code but I also wanted the visitors to be able to copy the code without the line numbers.

As I'm using the <pre> tag to show my code I wrote a JavaScript function which will get the pre tags and change their innerHtml.

Step1:
Go to Cool Text Graphics Generator
And go down to Choose a Button Design and select the button you like

Step2:
Write your text and select the disired fonts and colours.
In my case the text was "DOWNLOAD".
Filled the colours and selected Text Offest Y = -5 (move the text 5 pixels up from the center)
For Mouse over I selected Glow.
Now hit the button "Render Button"

Firesheep is a Firefox extension used to hijack web sessions usuall used over WiFi networks. Firesheep doesn’t steal usernames and passwords. Instead it copies session cookies used on authentication websites. These are then used to impersonate the hijack connection.

When logging into a website you usually start by submitting your username and password. The server then checks to see if an account matching this information exists and if so, replies back to you with a “cookie” which is used by your browser for all subsequent requests.

Today, i am going to post about new Google feature called "Google drive". There are many rumors for weeks now, but Google official announced on company blog Tuesday, the service will integrate with Google Docs and will allow you to access files from anywhere.

Google Docs is now built right into Google Drive, which means you can work with others in real time on documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Once you’ve shared content with someone else, you can add and reply to comments on anything (PDF, image, video file, etc.) and you’ll receive notifications when other people comment the items you’ve shared.

Many of us use Rapidshare to share files. Well here is a service that is ready to pay you to upload and share your files.

Most of us knew about Microsoft’s Skydrive which offered 25GB of free online storage. Skydrive has its restrictions like 50MB max file size and a bad uploader which doesn’t function as we would like it to. The other option was to setup Skydrive FTP like connection that you could use through My Computer to transfer files.

Glide Society has come up with Gdrive which offers 30 GB of free online storage space without any of the restrictions that Skydrive has. It is an advertisment free, cloud computing solution that can be used by upto 6 different people in one account.

RupeeMail is a new service in India that offers to pay you some money if you read some marketing emails.
First you register with the service, choose your preferences and start receiving emails. You will have to click on the advertisers link inside the email for the service to recognise that the email has been read.
This service is almost like a mini Google Adsense but it remains to be seen if RupeeMail will find enough subscribers. Hmm I wonder how much they are willing to pay per email, cuase that wasnt mentioned on their website.

Use Email Templates in Gmail – How to

In our previous post, we were giving away 50 Free Licenses for Comodo Internet Security Pro. To be sure that the licenses were not being sent to fake email addresses, we sent one mail asking the winners to reply to the email before we sent them the license code. So that’s 2 emails per winner X 50 winners = 100 emails to be sent. Copy pasting the template proved quite a hassle but it led me to email templates in Gmail.
How to Use Email Templates in Gmail
Gmail labs has a feature that allows you to make email templates that can be used to instantly reply to common emails.
To Access the Gmail Labs we need to click on the Green Test Tube on the right corner of Gmail. On this page Enable the Canned Responses feature. Click Save Changes.

Now that the Canned Responses feature is available for our use, we are ready to setup some email templates.
Click Compose Mail or open an email you would like to reply to. Enter the message and click on the Canned responses button (appears below the Subject line). Gmail will now save the contents of the message you typed as a email template.

To use the template again in another email, just click Canned Responses and choose the template to insert.
